The Dutch gambling regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) announced that it has levied a €350,000 penalty fine on ElectraWorks Ltd. – a GVC subsidiary, running the bwin.com casino brand.
bwin was found to be providing a broad range of gambling services on the territory of the Netherlands where international casino operators are not allowed to operate. Further evidence includes the use of iDeal – a popular payment method among Dutch players.
The KSA determined a base penalty amounting to €150k, but doubled the fine due to the large number of forbidden gambling services Dutch customers had access to. Another €50k was added because of bwin’s policy of charging an administrative fee for dormant accounts that haven’t been used for more than a year. According to KSA, such a fee was an “unacceptable disadvantage” to players.
